Cockatrices are descendants of Pre-war chickens in Kentucky, After generations of harsh wasteland life they lost their feathers and became more like like raptors and less like barnyard life-stock.

DescriptionEdit

The average Cockatrice stands at about 3 and a half feet tall, and weighs about 29 pounds. Their appearance is best described as a chicken who lost most of its feathers. Cockatrices feathers are dark brown, and covers parts of their orange scaled skin, but leaves most of it exposed. A Cockatrice can run at speeds of 12 MPH.

BehaviorEdit

Cockatrices are usually docile creatures by wasteland standards, only young males and small flocks actually hunt dangerous prey, but only out of desperation. Male Cockatrices are aggressive to anyone with in a 8 ft radius, Females are aggressive only if they think that their eggs are in danger, all this means you can probably walk past a group of them with out event. Young Cockatrices very easy to scare and will run away from danger.

DietEdit

Cockatrices are Omnivores, so they usually mix their diet from corn to Radroaches. Many Cockatrices are also Carrion birds so they help keep Kentucky Clean.

UsesEdit

Cockatrices fill a variety of roles, such as pets, life-stock and even messengers. messenger cockatrices are trained similar to homing pigeons from a young age. Cockatrice meat is considered to be a delicacy, The meat is served in a variety of ways such as wings, fingers and nuggets. Cockat-rexes are used for transporting objects and their corpses make tools and the fat is made into oil. Many wastelanders use Cockatrices for cock fights for entertainment.

Cockatrices have sharp beaks and claws to fend off predators, Cockat-rexes have hard beaks, muscular legs to give powerful kicks.

Defensive capabilitiesEdit

Cockatrices usually gang up on predators or sacrifice an egg to escape, Cockat-rexes usually lead predators into other animals to throw them off of its tail.

Sub-SpeciesEdit

• Cockat-rex: More like their ancestors with teeth, sharp beaks, and can run quicker at 20 MPH, at the loss of intelligence and agility. After a few short generations some Cockatrices "turned on" talpid2, a ressive gene that gives them teeth. Eventually they became distant from the small Cockatrice to a large agressive 9ft tall Ostrich/T Rex hybrid. The Cockat-rex is very strong and can pull around 90lbs so they are used instead of brahmin to carry small loads quickly. Cockat-rex meat is rare due to the fact most Cockat-rexes are wild.
