The Gun Packers are a group of gun and manufacturers based out of Deadwood, South Dakota. For many years, they were a major force in Deadwood and openly sold arms to all groups in the area, raider or civilized. Now, they sit under the watchful eye of Custer's American Army but continue these practices.
History[]
The Gun Packers' history goes back to 2187 when the company founded in Deadwood by an industrial outsider. He proceeded to convert a warehouse into the Sad Bullet Factory to produce bullets and guns for the Deadwood Militia in their fight against raiders and the Dakota. This was successful, making the Gun Packers a big business in Deadwood. However, over time the Gun Packers began to focus outside Deadwood and by 2200 sold to groups outside Deadwood, sometimes even raiders. However, they were still very much opposed to the Dakota, who raided their caravans.
The Gun Packers often paid off the different factions of the town to make sure their interests were protected. This was most often between the Gem Saloon's owner and the Deadwood Militia. This came to a head in the 2244 when George Armstrong Custer II came on the scene and rapidly took over Deadwood with the Gun Packers help. The Gun Packers were allowed operate and were not raided by the Dakota in exchange for a steady supply of arms to Custer's American Army.
Nowadays, the Gun Packers are a powerful force in the RUSA, selling arms to Custer's American Army and the Dakota. They have considerable clout elsewhere as well and are not to be underestimated, particularly by those who have wronged them.
Membership[]
The Gun Packers employs a large part of Deadwood, both for skilled and unskilled labor. The unskilled labor is has large portion of poor ghouls and Indians, who stay together in their respective groups.
Activities & Interests[]
The Gun Packers manufacture guns and bullets and export them with their own caravans, separate from the Deadwood Express. They sell to many different groups, both civilized and raider. General Custer tolerates this so long as they supply him primarily and don't directly fund his enemies.
