Free Kentucky Radio is the Free Kentucky Republic's national radio station, it was developed in 2142 as propaganda machine but has since developed into the cultural base of the whole republic. Playing radio shows, music, propaganda, and much much more.

History[]

Beginning[]

Free Kentucky Radio was first created by the government in 2142 under Governor Matt Gray as a way to avoid over-extended disaster. The radio was initially used to broadcast news, warnings, and propaganda to all settlements. The radio was overall just a piece for mayors, politicians, and Forest Boys to use. It was treated as bland white noise to most other citizens.

Reforms With Jackson Lakes[]

Once the young Jackson Lakes came into power as Governor in 2161, the radio took a turn. He reformed it to be more of a pop culture radio. He added recording booths and expanded it's range beyond the borders. It began broadcasting prewar and postwar music, along with radio plays and talk shows. Allowing for culture to blossom amongst all of it's people. This also led to many raider groups entering the Republic although, but that was easily squashed and the golden age could once again persist.

Until the War[]

Free Kentucky Radio up until the war was basically a free moving beast with no regulation but plenty of funding from the Republic. They picked up whatever musician, actor, writer, and director they could find and thrust them into the limelight. Many times they were flops, one episode shows and no hit wonders. But sometimes they rose to the top. Legendarily amazing shows and talented musicians receiving heavy play for just about 120 years all over.

The War[]

With the Republican Expansionist War on the way, Nathan Boone gave it another revamping. Although it's cultural nucleus is entirely maintained, many hours of the radio has been replaced with heavy and dreary war reports. A pure propaganda machine drenched in news from the front, songs about the war, and dramas about the soldier's struggle. Thusly converting the Republican people towards the war effort.
