Seattle is a pre-War city located in the former state of Washington in the Northwest Commonwealth, United States of America. The Great War, with nuclear bombs launched from China, caused significant damage to Seattle, leaving behind the ruins of a once-flourishing city. Despite the destruction, Seattle has managed to survive, and with the passage of time, civilization has slowly started to revive in the Emerald City.
Seattle has emerged as a significant hub of trade and culture in Cascadia in the post-apocalyptic era, where diverse factions interact with each other in the hopes of forming alliances and expanding their influence. The city's strategic location and resources have drawn the attention of a number of powerful organisations, including Emerald City, the Black Family of Blackwood, the Council of Chinatown, and the Geigers of Capitol Hill to name a few.
The Space Needle, a recognizable and iconic structure that has become synonymous with Seattle, still stands tall amidst the ruins of the city after the Great War, a shining beacon of the resilience of the people. Currently, Seattle is a center of trade and culture in Cascadia, retaining much of the flavor it had pre-War.
History[]
Pre-War[]
Seattle, a densely populated city in the Pacific Northwest, was crucial in the Resource Wars and the Anchorage Reclamation Operation. As a strategic military staging area, it was an important piece on the global conflict chessboard, and was used to deploy soldiers and ordinance to the frontlines. When the Great War broke out on October 23rd, 2077, Chinese nuclear missiles rained down on American soil, and Seattle was not spared. It was assailed more heavily and intensely as it was the closest metropolitan area to China, and despite the city's strong defenses and anti-ICBM weaponry, some of the destructive firepower managed to breach and wreak havoc from an overwhelming flood of rockets.
Before the Great War even started, Seattle was a key target for Chinese aggression, and the US government anticipated this. Seattle was provided with a number of security measures, national missile defenses, Vaults, and shelters to bolster its defenses, but it was still unable to defend itself from every warhead. Fortunately, Seattle's distinctive geography turned out to be a blessing. It was protected from the worst of the destruction that had destroyed other cities like Washington D.C. by being nestled between Puget Sound to the west and Lake Washington to the east and perched atop several hills. Seattle, though, did not escape unscathed. Direct nuclear ordinance strikes were made on the downtown area and the University of Washington, which is situated north of downtown across Lake Union.
Post-War[]
Navigating these areas is difficult unless one is willing to brave the extensive network of tunnels that snake beneath the city. So if you're planning on exploring Seattle and Emerald City, make sure to pack a flashlight, a Geiger counter, a boatload of rad away, and a sense of adventure!
